Chris's Restaurant & Villas

It is a popular myth that when Christopher Columbus set out in the Santa Maria he was trying to prove the earth was round. In fact every educated person believed the earth was a sphere. One of the reasons that people knew the earth was round is that you can actually see the curvature of the earth if you get to the right spot. One of those places is the view from Chris's Restaurant and Villas.

One of the reasons that people knew the earth was round is that you can actually see the curvature of the earth if you get to the right spot. One of those places is the view from Chris's Restaurant and Villas. Perched on the mountainside above Apollo Bay, the outlook is truly magnificent.

Chris's Restaurant enjoys a world-wide profile for the gourmet traveller and is well worth the drive down the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. The food is contemporary with a Southern European and Middle Eastern Influence. Fresh seafood is their specialty, along with a variety of Chris’s most popular Greek dishes. In their cuisine, the emphasis is on simplicity and on showcasing the natural flavour of the ingredients.

The modern luxury Villas provide the perfect place to rest easy after enjoying your meal and a fine wine or two. Chris's is located high above Skenes Creek and the villas are elevated, so the impact of the ocean views is stunning. Recently renovated, the villas are contemporary and well equipped. The studio accommodation is also popular, with panoramic views from Cape Patton to Apollo Bay.

Catering for Wedding Receptions Chris's offers some spectacular backdrops for the special day.

It is a popular myth that when Christopher Columbus set out in the Santa Maria he was trying to prove the earth was round. In fact every educated person believed the earth was a sphere.

Instead Columbus was convinced you could sail to Asia from Europe. For a number of reasons, including his inability to read the scale on his maps correctly, Columbus believed the earth was much smaller than it actually was. Potential investors rightly pointed out that if Columbus tried to sail to India from Europe, he would starve or die of thirst long before he managed to get there.

Untroubled by expert opinion, Columbus eventually managed to raise the funds for his expedition and set out to the west. Lucky for him he stumbled upon the New World right where he thought India would be. So instead of dying horribly, Columbus comes out
looking like a genius.
